Live . . . in Concert !

For music fans, nothing beats the thrill of seeing a live performance. Several of the Myrtle Beach area's famous showplaces have "really big shows" planned in January. Silky-voiced country singer Alison Krauss will perform at the Palace Theatre, and the Alabama Theatre will present "A Close Walk With Patsy Cline." For more info on these and other upcoming shows, check this out

Cooking 101

Thanks to all those hip celebrity chefs on TV's Food Network, cooking is all the rage these days. Beginning in January, Grand Strand visitors who want to hone their cooking skills -- or learn more about fine wines -- can attend one of a long list of three-hour classes offered at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where executive Chef Tom Mullally teaches "Cooking for Fun" and "International Wine and Food Pairing." Have a Taste of Japan or take a Trip through Europe … for details and registration information, see pages 29-30 of http://www.hgtc.edu/ce/PUBLIC/052/sched.pdf.
