Thumbs up to Rep. Ronnie Townsend, chairman of the Education and Public Works committee, who filed bill H. 4429 requiring South Carolina primary and secondary schools to start school no earlier than Aug. 15. Rep. Townsend recognized that parents in South Carolina truly want a later school start date in order to spend quality time with their children during the summer. Rep. Townsend  and the bill, which was filed in the House Jan. 12, have received an enormous amount of support with nearly 80 legislators officially signing on as sponsors. Be sure to keep an eye on the progress of bill H. 4429.

Thumbs up to NESA (North Eastern Strategic Alliance) for endorsing bills in the S.C. House and Senate that would make I-73 a toll road. This is an important step toward making I-73 a reality because tolling not only will help pay for the interstate, but will allow the road to be built in a more timely manner.
